Nightlife in Venezia Mestre...

Kinga once told me that whenever I go, after there is always a story. Well, I'm the one of a kind, explorer or something, but yes, indeed, something happened again which can be in Merili storybook.

To start with, I came back to Padova on 28th of December. Why so early? Because at the moment, when I'm finally pulling this story together, I'm in the train heading through marvellous Alps to Munich. To meet Moritz and the gang and have an awesome new year's eve. But as I had to change my tickets, I couldn't change it the way that I liked. I flew with Lufthansa, through Frankfurt. And Frankfurt flight is the last flight every day which arrives 23.15 to Venice. It is well known, that at least in Italy there isn't such a thing as night buses and night trains (in some occasions, yes, but I'll tell that later) so there was my only chance to head to Padova as soon as possible through Venezia Mestre train station. But of course my flight was delayed, so the slight chance to get the bus at 23.40 was way ahead of me. FUCKK!!!
Okay, what next? Hmm.. The first bus to Padova goes 7.50, I have to go to Munich 14.07.. I want to sleep, I want to pack and repack my stuff.. Okay, maybe something else? The first train to Padova from Mestre goes 5.19. Maybe it isn't so bad. 00.20 bus to Mestre and then I'll see what can I do..
And there it begins: "Nightlife in Venezia Mestre train station. Live."
00.53 I reach to the train station. I knew that Kaisu has been here before with Jukka. Hmm.. She told me that it wasn't nice.. why?

00.55 Ok, what the hell. I can see at least 10 immigrant sleeping in one side of the train station, having blankets. Some tourists are getting cold. AND THE WAITING AREA IS OPEN 05.00-21.30. WTF???? Merili, think something..
Ticket. Let's buy the ticket! 5.19. Oh dear.. 4 hours until that. . Let's go on a tour..
01.10 Tour of the train station with my two suitcases is done, first messages to mom and Silva are sent. Silva suggests me not to fall asleep. Like I dare? I have to find some allys..
Oh, there is a black guy with bags marked by Lufthansa. Perhaps was he on the same plane with me? Okay, I'd better sit next to him. He seems nice.

01.20. Train to Vienna departures in 10 minutes. Some gangs are gathering. And some immigrants, one lady who reminds me the one begger in Tallinn, and three guys. Wearing normal clothes, by the way, but still I can hear "Vaffanculo" all the time. Next to one italian couple is one drunk guy who tries to open his sleeping bag. Without any success. The guy next to me is sleeping . I guess. I try to read my book. Hunger Games-Catching Fire.
01.30 Why I don't go to Vienna? It's nice.. and the train is warm. Brrrhh.. Silva told me that the hardest time is between 3 and 4 o'clock. Well, what can I do here? I can read a book, eat something, read magazines.. Laptop. No, I don't dare to take my laptop out. Not yet. I have to wait when this gang just in front of me leaves. Oh, something happens. It's too fucking cold, I cannot sit anymore here in this bench. Hmm.. I turn my suitcase and sit on it. I hope that nothing brakes.

01.33 Out of nothing, one guy yells at other. And they start running. WHAT? The guy next to me woke up, stands up, walks a bit (because it's cold) and leaves the bag to me. He trusts me.
01.36 Whooah. Like back in Lasnamäe (the "dark" area in Tallinn).. I bet they are gipsys, they speak similar to italian and a little bit like russian. OMG. Someone took the knife out.
01.38 My new friend changes some smirks and looks with me while we see the two guys fighting. Now there are even two pairs. Maybe they are fighting for the space here? Or blankets? Or..?
Oh, the woman tries to calm them down. "Basta! Basta!" Nothing happens.
01.45 Oh, someone is coming. Like a guard or something. Shouts at them a bit. Everything is so quiet. I try to read my book.

02.02 Ok, I'm cold.. Put jumper on, another pair of gloves. Why do the beggers and immigrants and the people here have better life than I do... :/ Snap. Don't think! It's warm enough! Read your book and be quiet!
02.05 One train comes.. and it stops. Empty as it is. Two (vedurijuht) come out and just stay somewhere there.
02.15 One pigeon is stuck into somekind of rolling poster and is weeping there. Or he is fucking because the voice is similar to it. 2 chinese people join me and my new silent friend. It is quite funny, we all share something but we don't spare a word.

02.46 I have vodka! Why I didn't come to this before!?? Oh, I miss Risto and his Jäku (Jagermeister...) Vanilla vodka.. Viru Valge. Oh, this is good and keeps me warm.

03.11 Train to Rome leaves. What if I stayed in Rome? Well, then I wouldn't fly to Venice. This train stops in Firenze as well. Julie and Vanessa aren't in Italy.. sure I could stay at their place. No, I'm going home. My Padova. My home.
My new friend stays with me. I wonder where is he going... I look at the timetable. 5.10 Treviso, 5.19 Milano (MY TRAIN! Oh, my warm little train which brings me home....) 5.28 Bologna.. Maybe he comes with me?
03.25 The drunken guy makes weird noise. One hindu, whom I saw before in the airport, is also here. Walking around. My upper body is warm but my toes are starting to freeze...Okay, maybe Silva meant this. IT is the hardest point.
When I was underage and hade some parties, sometimes it was hard to go home, so we stayed outside. But at least in Estonia WE HAVE places which are open through the night, especially cafeterias next to train/bus station. It's just so ironic that the label in Mc Donald's say APRI. OPEN. My ass. Ok, actually the book is interesting but I have chills so in every 10 minutes I have to stand up and shake myself a little bit.
03.30 Two guys pass me and say hi. Why don't they sleep if they have the blankets!!!???03.45 One strange black guy comes and starts singing. My new friend is asleep. But I like his presence. That's nice.

04.02Okay, this is the hour now where I have to start thinking how can I move my suitcases. The elevators are not working.. I make a pact with myself that I'm going to move 4.30. 04.12 Katniss is a mockingjay, Peeta is somewhere missing and I really don't get the end of the Book 2. Oh dear, I have to buy as soon as possible the Book 3. Hmm.. 20 minutes of doing nothing..
04.20 The cleaner guy comes.. I talk a bit with him. He is sorry that we have to stay outside. Yeah, it could have been worse. Like last Tuesday, when I arrived Estonia and it was -17. My phone says that it's 0 degrees. Yeah, the water freezes.. I don't.

04.30 Ok, let's go. My friend is still asleep. Two suitcases, one girl, many stairs, first down and then up again. But I manage it. Platform 10. Done. And I'm pretty scared because on platform 9 there is one guy who doesn't have any suitcases so he is someone bad. I start singing. First quietly, then a little bit louder. If someone could see me, they would think that I'm nuts or something..
Estonian songs: Tahan olla öö, Keegi tulla võib, Kuula, Valged jõulud, Emale..

04.49 I realize that I didn't validate my ticket. Baah, I have to go down again. Here we go!04.52 Ticket validated and now I can see more people. One girl with a suitcase, my new friend is also there. And 2 Trenitalia workers come and open the elevator. Well, I think, now it's the time they open up everything.

05.07 My train left from Venezia St Lucia now. I know it for sure. Maybe I should have stayed there? Could it have been warmer? Do they even have anything open or warm here?? I want to go to Padovaa.. 35 kilometres.. So close but yet so far.
05.20 The train!!! I want to jump in the air or do something. Oh, it's warm. But I have another challenge to be accepted. I'm not so sure if Ceccarelli's gate is open. It depends on a guard. But the night guard is always nice to me. Maybe he's there.
05.41 PADOVA! Oh dear! Oh my! I'm here. At home. This is my home for sure! yaaaayyy
05.45 Taxi. Taxi driver starts a conversation.. Non ricordo come parlare l'italiano. Okay, it comes. We talk about weather, Estonia, Italy.. Yeah, I'm at home. AND THE GATE IS OPEN!
05.58 I jump up and down in my room. Haven't felt happier, true story. :)

Well, I ended up in the bed 7.30 am. I had to unpack my things and then find some stuff for going to München. Mommy called, she knows I'm a survivor. And I still love my life. I just have to.
